WHY I PROVIDE CREDIT CARD CONSULTING FREE OF CHARGE

First and foremost, I match clients with the credit cards from which they can extract the most value, whether that be through cash back, or through points that can be used for travel or applied as credit toward statement balances. My recommendations are usually in the form of a 1 year plan, but can be extended through multiple years. On average I’m bringing my clients at least $2,000 in value in the first year and $500 each subsequent year. These benefits are magnified significantly when I help businesses.
In addition, I help clients make effective use of the points they earn through credit cards, so they can experience travel at costs they didn’t think possible. As an example, have a look at this article outlining my recent trip to England at a very low cost.
The Good Feeling
I’ve dedicated the past several years to learning in detail the credit card landscape, the benefits available, and how to maximize the value of those benefits. My learnings have helped me, my family and my friends save significant amounts of money. What I have learned is not a secret, but it feels like one, and we all know that it is hard to keep a secret. I want to share what I have learned to help others. It’s hard to describe the feeling I have when hearing a client’s reaction of “Wow! There really is good value here.” Maybe it's a small sense of accomplishment, maybe it's a sense of worth for having brought value to someone...I don't know. What I do know is that I feel good after helping someone optimize their credit card portfolio.
Growth
I’m still relatively new at this business, and the size of my operation is small. Therefore, I’m willing to sacrifice income opportunity to gain clients faster. The message to my early clients has been consistent: As long as I have the time and flexibility to help you, I will do it free of charge. At some point I aspire to be too busy to offer free services, but until I reach that point my clients can take advantage of this.
Compensation From Card Issuers
Introduction:
I think if I saw something advertised for free on social media, I would be cautious about clicking on a link or trusting the source. Yet here I am, advertising my credit card consulting services as free of charge and expecting the public to trust me. There is a disconnect there, I get that. So I thought it might be helpful if I shared what I do, why I do it and how I am compensated to put you at ease if you’re interested in my services.

What Are My Services

There is compensation for my services that has financial value, but it does not come from my clients. Credit card issuers want to increase their cardholder numbers because that increases their income base. As a result, they compensate existing cardholders for any approved referrals for new cardholders. This compensation is usually awarded in points, and the amount is generally a fraction of the sign-up bonus a new cardholder receives (referrals usually are in the 10,000 point range, though they can vary). If I spend 2 hours with a client learning their spending patterns and recommending the best cards for them, and they get only one new credit card as a result, a 10,000 point referral award is worth about $200 to me, and that is fair compensation.
All of this being said, my commitment is to refer the cards that best match the spending patterns and goals of my clients, regardless of the referral bonus. In many cases I recommend cards for which I receive no referral bonus.
Promotion Through Networking
Thus far, I have kept in touch with all of my clients. One may have an upcoming trip for which they would like guidance on how to best use their points. Another might have completed only a portion of the plan I set up for them and seek updated guidance. Another might want a refresher on how to maximize the value they’re squeezing out of a card. Another might want to share how much fun they had on their recent, free trip. In all cases, these ongoing relationships keep fresh the best advocates for growing my business, my clients. Word of mouth is powerful, and having multiple people promoting Max Your Plastic is more powerful than anything I could do alone.
Max’s Take
So, I’ve outlined four reasons I’m offering my services for free: the feeling I get when helping others, growing my business, referral compensation from card issuers, and building a powerful network to promote the business. Which is most important to me? Honestly, it’s the feeling I get when helping others. That is the passion which drives it all. Without it, this would just be a job, and I don’t want one of those.
Let me help you experience the same success my other clients have experienced. All it requires is a little of your time for me to understand your goals, spending patterns, and existing card holdings. Once I’ve made a recommendation, you have the option to do nothing (there is no obligation), implement part or all of my recommendation, or if you’re absolutely thrilled with the outcome, become an ambassador by sharing your excitement with family and friends.
